Hi there and thank you so much for your interest in my beautiful Maine Coons kittens ! I am a CFA Registered cattery (FamousCoons) located in northeast Ohio.
All of my cats and kittens are raised in a loving home environment with countless hours of dedication put into them.
All of my adult breeders have their genetic testing done as well as echocardiogram testing done for HCM.

1. Payment

1.1 Deposit

A non-refundable deposit of $1000 is required to reserve a kitten. A kitten is not considered reserved until the deposit has been received. The deposit is applied toward the total purchase price. The remaining balance is due at the time of pickup. Accepted payment methods include cash, Zelle, and Venmo.

1.2 Buyer Cancellation

If the buyer decides not to proceed with the purchase for any reason, the $1000 deposit will be forfeited.

1.3 Breeder Cancellation Due to Health

If the kitten becomes ill or is deemed unfit for placement while still in the breeder’s care after the deposit has been paid, all monies paid will be refunded to the buyer if a suitable replacement kitten is not available.

1.4 Breeder Right to Refuse Sale

The breeder reserves the right to refuse the sale of a kitten at any time, in which case all monies paid will be fully refunded to the buyer.

2. General Terms

2.1 Pet-Only Placement

This kitten is sold strictly as a pet only. No breeding rights are granted.

2.2 Veterinary Care Prior to Placement

The kitten has received age-appropriate vaccinations and has been examined by a licensed veterinarian prior to leaving the breeder’s care.

2.3 Registration

The kitten is in the process of being registered with the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA).

2.4 Pedigree Guarantee

The breeder guarantees that the kitten is a purebred Maine Coon with an accurate pedigree.

2.5 Transfer of Ownership

The kitten will not leave the breeder’s home until the full purchase price has been paid and this contract has been signed by both parties.

3. Health Guarantee

3.1 Declawing Prohibited

The buyer agrees that the kitten will never be declawed.

3.2 Initial Veterinary Examination

The buyer agrees to have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of pickup. If the kitten is found to be seriously medically deficient, the breeder will accept return of the kitten and refund all monies paid only if:

  • Written documentation from the examining veterinarian is provided, and
  • A second examination by a veterinarian chosen by the breeder corroborates the diagnosis.

3.3 Genetic Health Guarantee

The breeder guarantees the kitten against death due to a genetically inherited condition until 24 months of age. Genetic conditions are defined as congenital or inherited disorders diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian and confirmed by medical records or necropsy.

If such a death occurs, the breeder will provide a replacement kitten if available. If the breeder is no longer producing kittens, a refund of $500 will be issued.

This guarantee does not cover:

  • Non-genetic illnesses
  • Injuries
  • Parasites
  • Environmental causes
  • Accidental or negligent harm

Under no circumstances is the breeder responsible for veterinary expenses incurred by the buyer.

4. Buyer Rights and Responsibilities

4.1 Lifetime Care

The buyer agrees to provide proper food, fresh water, shelter, enrichment, routine veterinary care, and a safe living environment for the kitten for its lifetime.

4.2 Veterinary Care

The buyer agrees to seek prompt veterinary care whenever the kitten’s health requires it.

4.3 Indoor-Only Requirement

The kitten must be kept indoors only. Secure outdoor enclosures (catios) are permitted.

4.4 Confinement

The kitten shall not be confined or caged for extended periods of time.

4.5 Transfer of Ownership Prohibited

The buyer agrees not to sell, give away, or transfer ownership of the kitten to any individual, business, shelter, or rescue.

4.6 Return to Breeder

If the buyer can no longer keep the kitten at any time for any reason, the breeder must be contacted immediately. The kitten shall be returned to the breeder with no refund.

The only person permitted to assume ownership of the kitten, aside from the original buyer, is the breeder: Jacob Ruehlman, unless otherwise approved in writing and accompanied by a new signed contract.

4.7 Failure to Meet Contract Terms

If the buyer fails to meet any terms of this contract, the breeder reserves the right to reclaim the kitten with no refund.

4.8 Breeding Prohibited / Penalty

The kitten may not and will not be bred. Any intentional or accidental breeding constitutes a material breach of this contract. In the event of breeding or pregnancy, the buyer agrees to either:

  • Pay a $4,000 liquidated damages penalty, or
  • Surrender the cat to the breeder with no refund.

Any resulting litter will result in immediate legal action, as breeding rights were not purchased.

4.9 Spay / Neuter Requirement

The buyer agrees to have the kitten spayed or neutered by six (6) months of age or prior to sexual maturity, whichever occurs first. Written veterinary proof must be provided to the breeder. Failure to comply constitutes a breach of contract.

5. Ongoing Contact

5.1 Communication

Both parties agree to remain in contact. The breeder is available for advice and support regarding the kitten.

5.2 Updates

The buyer agrees to provide periodic updates, including photos or videos, regarding the kitten’s health, growth, and well-being.

6. Breach of Contract

If the buyer violates any term of this contract, the breeder may reclaim ownership of the kitten with no refund. The buyer will be responsible for any veterinary care required upon return of the kitten.

Legal Provisions

This contract shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio.

If any provision of this contract is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

This contract constitutes the entire agreement between breeder and buyer and supersedes all prior discussions or representations.
